I have experience teaching both high school and middle school students. With high school students, I taught biology and environmental science; my middle school students learned physical science and earth science. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences from Mount Holyoke College. I went to the University of Texas at Austin to earn my Master of Education.As a tutor, when I start working with a student, it is my job to evaluate that individual's current knowledge and ensure that we can start to move beyond what they already know. I feel that visual aids and physical activity, particularly tasks that engage one's hands, are the best way to help students understand abstract concepts more easily. My passion is helping students to understand the importance of asking questions in the right way to obtain answers, and to help them develop skills to answer their questions.I believe that learning should be fun. People should never stop learning, no matter how old they are. When I'm not tutoring students to help them better understand science, I spend time with family members or searching out opportunities to learn about new topics. I also enjoy reading for pleasure, sewing, crocheting, and cooking.
